Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) is a state-funded trade and investment promotion organization operated by the Government of South Korea. It was established during the year of 1962.
The mission of KOTRA is to facilitate trade between Korea and the rest of the world. The rapid export growth throughout the years has contributed to significant economic growth. The services provided by KOTRA include trade information Services, Government to Government export, Foreign Investment in Korea, Promotional business matchmaking platforms and more trade related services.
The main focus is on Small to Medium Enterprises (SME’s) that are looking to expand their businesses by linking them with potential companies overseas. The annual Korea Consumer Goods Showcase works very closely with SME’s to assist with exposure and promotion into South Africa. One on one business meetings are arranged between Korean companies and local companies to explore business opportunities.
KOTRA has a total of 126 offices worldwide in 86 countries. Johannesburg KOTRA office is the Head Office of all the KOTRA offices in Africa. There are currently 9 KOTRA offices in Africa.
